Start with the place you live
Open the page for the place you live. Do not start from the licence printed on a sportsbook. A local guide, a market page and a licence page answer different questions, and only one of them is the first stop.
- A local guide, where we run a site for that place. There are three: South Africa, Poland and Alberta. Use that site for the local law.
- A market page on this site, where we have read a local register and we do not run a local site. That is Ghana, and Nigeria, where the page covers only Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory.
- A licence page on this site, for one regulator. Open it when the place you live is the place named on that page.
If your place is not named in those three groups, we have not published a page for it. A page about another place is not a substitute.
Three local guides
South Africa has its own guide, BookieLens South Africa. The page is in English, and its title is about licensed betting sites in South Africa [1]. On this site, South Africa shows how the sportsbooks we cover appear in the South African lists. Use the local guide for who is licensed there.
Poland has its own guide, Bukmacher na Topie. The page is in Polish [2]. This site has no Poland page.
Alberta, Canada, has its own guide, Alberta Gambling Guide. The page is in English, and its title places the site in Alberta [3]. Alberta is not Ontario, and it is not Kahnawà:ke. Those two places have their own entries in the list below. We have no page for the other provinces of Canada.
Ghana and Nigeria
Ghana has no local guide. Start at Sports betting licences in Ghana. That page is about the Gaming Commission of Ghana.
Nigeria has no local guide. Start at Sports betting licences in Nigeria. The page covers the Lagos State register and the Federal Capital Territory register. It does not cover any other part of Nigeria.
Licence pages, by the place they name
Eight regulators have a page here. Each entry starts with the jurisdiction label on that page. Open the entry for where you live, then read the page for where the licence applies. The label is not permission to bet. For that question, read Licensed in one place, available in another.
- Great Britain. Gambling Commission (UKGC)
- Malta. Malta Gaming Authority (MGA)
- Gibraltar. Gibraltar Gambling Division and Gambling Commissioner
- Isle of Man. Gambling Supervision Commission (Isle of Man)
- Ontario, Canada. iGaming Ontario and the AGCO
- Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Territory, Quebec, Canada. Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission
- Curaçao. Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA)
- Anjouan, Union of the Comoros. Anjouan Gaming (Autonomous Island of Anjouan)
Each place is the jurisdiction label on our page for that regulator, in the same order as the licences index. South Africa, Poland, Alberta, Ghana and Nigeria are not in this list: they are named above. The Great Britain entry is Great Britain. We have not published a page for Northern Ireland.

- Lagos State, or the Federal Capital Territory. Open the Nigeria page. Another part of Nigeria is not covered.
- A place in the list of licence pages, and none of the entries above. Open that entry, then read where the page says the licence applies.
- Anywhere else. We have not published a page. Do not use a different place's page, and do not treat a Curaçao or Malta page as the page for your country.
