How we work

We publish what the sources say, name the source, and say what we could not check.

Sources

Every fact on a licence or sportsbook page has a source link under it. The full list, with the date we read each page, is at the foot of the page. Each source carries one label:

We prefer a regulator’s own pages and registers. Wikipedia is used only where we found nothing better, and it is labelled as secondary each time.

No scores, no ranking

Sportsbooks are listed alphabetically. We do not score them or rank them, and we do not tell you which one to pick, because the sources we can check do not support a ranking.

Review order

Every sportsbook review follows the same order, so you can compare two of them side by side. A review runs to about 2,400 words, and each topic appears once:

  1. Pros and cons
  2. At a glance
  3. Company history
  4. Licences it holds
  5. Where you can and cannot use it
  6. Payments and withdrawals
  7. Limits and safer-gambling tools
  8. Drawbacks
  9. How it compares
  10. If something goes wrong
  11. Regulatory record
  12. What we could not check
  13. Sources

When we link to an operator

The Gambling Act 2005 makes it an offence to advertise unlawful gambling in Great Britain: gambling is unlawful where a licence under the Act would be needed and is not held. This is why this site links to an operator only where the Commission's register shows a licence, and why it names but does not link to operators that are not licensed in Great Britain.Source: legislation.gov.uk

Where we do not link, the review says so and still shows the facts we found.

What we could not check

Some operator sites and some regulator pages block automated reading. We do not get around that. When a page could not be opened, the review says so and the fact is left out or marked as secondary.
